27th December - The Rotary Club of Perth's annual family day, rounded off the year with entertainment from Past President - John McEwan, singing a melody of popular songs from around the world. Starting in Bonnie Scotland, then across the pond to America for some wholesome County and Western numbers, back to the Emerald Isle for an Irish tune or two, and finally back to Bonny Scotland to finish. Excellent entertainment for our Family Day which was enjoyed by all, Rotarians and their families.
- President David wished all a Very Happy New Year.
20th December - The tradtional Christmas message was this year given by the Rev. Bob Sloan from Glasgow, now retired. The former Perth Minister gave his very special Christmas message, useing his love of Glasgow humour, to give an enlightening and enjoyable interpetation of what Christmas was really all about, and his hopes that we would look at Christmas afresh and enjoy it for what it really is.
- President David wished everyone a Very Merry Christmas.

22nd November - At our Quarterly Fraternal meeting President David had the pleasant duty of introducing another new lady member into the Club, Alison Lowson who is the Editor of the Perthshire Advertiser. Alison has already gained her spurs! for the work she did with the Club at our recent Silent Auction.
15th November 2007 - At our monthly Business Meeting, Vice-President - Bill Montgomery had the pleasant experience of introducing not one but twp new members to the Club including a new lady member. Our new lady member Victoria Unite, is the business Manager at Pperthshire Chamber of Commerce and Alistair Duffy is with Edward Jones - Investment Services. Victoria Unite was introduced to the Club by Past President - Alistair Dorward, Alistair Duffy was introduced by Bob McFarlane.
9th November 2007 - The 90th Annual Charter Dinner returned to Murrayshall Hotel, with 74 members and guests enjoying a tasty meal followed by a light hearted and amusing speech from local MP Pete Wishart, who entertained us with tales on his journey from rock group Runrig to Westminster. President David noted in his introduction, Pete was running just a wee bit late - by a year in fact! Unfortunately Pete had to call off last year due to a family bereavement. Sports Convenor Bill Roxburgh also took to the stage to provide the company with a humorous review of the Club’s sporting ‘prowess’ over the year, with the sports trophies being presented by President David’s wife Christine. The evening also called for a bit of brain power with a photo quiz of various views of Perth causing a few furrowed brows and generating much discussion. The quiz was well received with the the nearest thing to a compliment being espoused by Louis, when he said ‘ Good quiz David but your photos were sh….’ - praise indeed!
- Vice President Bill Montgomery gave a vote of thanks to all those who had contributed to making the dinner an enjoyable evening, and especially the Entertainments Committee for all their hard work and organisation.

8th November 2007 - Our two young Camp RLYA candidates Rebecca McLeod and Philip Chan from Perth High School, gave a very good account of their experiences at this years Camp at Netheybridge. They were not phased either by the poor acoustics in the room, or by not being able to get their Power Presentation up and running till the last moment (not their fault). They were accompanied by Deputy Head Teacher, Mrs Fiona Keetings when they received their certificates from President David, who congratulated them, adding it had been a fine effort all round.
Perth's Silent Auction
3rd November 2007 - The Silent Auction reached it's very successful conclusion on this day. With the Final personal Bids having to be received by 4pm at St Johns Shopping Centre - Perth, or by our dedicated telephone number, or by email, over 400 emails! Everything sold, 183 LOTS! raising over £15,600 for MacMillan Cancer Support, what a success story this has turned out to be for the Rotary Club of Perth.

Originally, included as part of our Annual Fayre, it was decided to separate it and run it as a stand-alone event this year. A small committee was formed, headed by Sandy Dow and Andy Ritchie, their first move was to seek the support of the Perthshire Advertiser and it's Editor Alison Lowson, this proved pivotal, as it offered a much wider audience. The second and just as importantly, was to target all the business in the town with or without Rotary connections, their support has been immense. Thirdly we had our website, this allowed the public to access the LOTS and gave the supporting businesses exposure, these three crucial ingredients, added to the enthusiasm of the Silent Auction Team proved a very potent force. wonderful support.
