Perth Silent Auction - Final BiDs Saturday 3rd December 2011 - The format will be much the same as past years, with this years proceeds going to the Cornhill MacMillan Palliative Care Unit at PRI, CHAS at Rachel House, Kinross and a mix of our Club's other worthwhile causes.

Start looking and booking LOTS now for this year Perth Silent Auction, if you know of any company or person, who may have a LOT that they might kindly donate, now is the time to get on their case. What really makes the Auction such a success is the quality and variety of the LOTS, we would ask all members to approach their friends and business associates and acquaintances to donate a LOT for the auction, this is a most beneficial community project, now with a proven track record, so this should make it slightly easier than in past years, without LOTS it just cannot work.

There are a number of benefits for those who participate, all the Silent Auction items will be display listed on our Website, with Company Logo and/or a Picture, plus a direct link to the LOT donors' own businesses websites if they have one? Regular media coverage with published listings in the Perthshire Advertiser, up-to, during and after the Auction, great free publicity. The sooner the LOT is donated, the longer the exposure, so get on with the leg work, now and book these LOTS!

Home Page 2011 - The Rotary Club of Perth's major fundraiser of the past year was our Silent Auction which raised the incredible total of £30,000 for local, national and international charities, a quite an unbelievable total.

I would like to say a big well done to all the Club Members who got involved. Not wanting to name particular members, but a few do deserve a special mention, for the tremendous amount of work they did to make again, this such a special event. Firstly David Lindsay as Team Leader assisted by Ewan Bannerman and the LOT's team who provided a record number of LOTS - 416 in total, Jimmy Robertson and Sandy Pearson for building and maintaining the website, Joe Cairns and Alistair Duffy for the cash collection and LOTs distribution, Alison Lowson and the Perthshire Advertiser for their splendid support, with features and updates in the Newspaper, to name just a few.

A great big thank you goes to all the Perthshire and other Businesses/Companies who donated the 416 LOTs! Without LOTs we would have no Auction! Thank-You. Most importantly, I would like to thank the public who in these very difficult times have again been so generous and made this another record breaking Auction. We exceeded last year’s total by nearly £6000, so Help for Heroes, Cornhill Macmillan Cancer Support and other local good causes will benefit greatly from all this effort. Lastly, let me say well done and a big thank you to everyone who got involved directly or indirectly with the Silent Auction; you made this the most successful Rotary Club of Perth fundraiser ever!

Saturday 17th April, 2010 - A good turnout of Rotarians at the Sensory Garden made short work of clearing the debris left by the Dry Stone Waller's who have made such a great job of the dry stone walls. Jim and Alistair supplied the machinery, the remainder on the shovels and wheel barrows moving the stones. The two pictures are before and after cleanup. The next step will be cultivating the garden itself and many more volunteers will then be required. Everyone enjoyed their bit of physical exertion!!!!

Sunday 11th April, 2010 - Work in progress at the Sensory Garden - Fairview School, Kate Armstrong and her group of Dry Stone Waller's are doing a great job on the garden and hope to finish the main part of the walling today. Also in the picture is our resident architect Ian Inglis and Anne Smiths husband Jim who has given many hours of his time and machinery sparing many a poor Rotarians back!!! All those involved in this project will now be pleased to see it moving forward apace.

25th January 2007 - Ms Jane Spiers from the Horse Cross, gave the member a very enlightening talk and update on how the New Concert Hall is performing after it first year in operation, though there have been teething troubles, it appears to be a resounding success, and totally vindicates the Town Council's faith in the project from the outset. 23rd January - A group of 17 of Perth's finest cue men gathered at the New Yorker Snooker Club to do battle on the green baize. The tankard for the highest break was won by Neil Rowlands, who achieved a massive 13 - the Crucible beckons! Thanks to John McEwen for the organisation.
18th January 2007 Ms Anne Bunting, Chairperson of the Perth Business Woman’s Network gave the members an informative insight into how the organisation was formed, and the type of activities their members enjoy. Most enlightening was the technique they use, to do a bit of people profiling using colour cards, to identify particular characteristics, going by our member’s reaction, the results it must have been uncomfortably accurate! John McEwen proposed the vote of thanks.
17th January 2007 - The club won the latest round of the Gavel Challenge, in a play off, against Mayfield Rotary Club, Dundee. Played in the famous clubhouse of Dundee FP Rugby Club After a gruelling 4 rounds, the teams were tied 16 - 16, it was decided that the play-off should be 3-darts, with the player nearest the bull the winner, as hosts, Dundee agreed to throw first, their man had 2 darts inside the 25 ring, brilliant. Next up to the Ockey, representing the Rotary Club of Perth was Robbie 'Jocky Wilson' Singer, to score a bulls-eye with his second dart, what a player, YaBa-DaBa-Doo.
